We are so incredibly excited to be starting a brand-new project running online yoga sessions for the parents and carers of the children we support. The yoga course is designed to be a gentle introduction to yoga while promoting relaxation and well-being.
We all know that childhood cancer is one of the most devastating diagnoses a family can receive and its impacts reverberate through every aspect of family life. Parents and carers of a child with cancer are extremely likely to experience adverse effects on their mental health. It is hoped that by giving them some space to practise yoga and dedicate a short amount of time to themselves, it will enable them to recalibrate their emotions and let go of some of the stresses that come from cancer and its treatment.
We are thrilled to have set up a partnership with the Brighton Natural Health Foundation and to have one of their expert Yoga instructors running the sessions. We will be providing attendees with a Yoga mat for use, which can be kept after the course is completed.
Classes start at 10am on Monday 11th August and will continue every Monday morning and Thursday evening from then.
The course is open to anyone involved in the care of a child we currently support, including Mums, Dads and Grandparents. We would love to have lots of people joining in and we still have spaces available, so if any parents or carers of a child supported by CWCF would like to sign up, please contact grants@childrenwithcancerfund.org.uk.
We are extremely grateful to Sport England who have funded this project as part of their Movement Fund, encouraging people to increase their movement levels and well-being.
