Lights, Camera, Action!

We like to try to keep things fresh and exciting here at Children with Cancer Fund. While a lot of our events are repeated year on year as they are so successful and proven to be popular, we also like to add in some new events to keep things exciting for our families.

With this in mind, we sent a group of our families to Hailsham Pavilion to watch the live-action Lilo and Stitch film.

Theatre Setting

The cinema was just beautiful, with a lot of our families commenting that they had never been to such a grand and impressive location to watch a movie. It certainly made a trip to the cinema feel a bit different and more exciting.

The Pavilion had the snack kiosk open, and we offered all attendees a drink and a snack each to keep them going throughout the film. The Hailsham Pavilion is a popcorn free cinema, so although we couldn’t enjoy the traditional cinema fare, there were plenty of other options to keep everyone happy. It was a novelty to be able to enjoy a nice cup of tea in the cinema!

Behind The Scenes

We even had an extra, impromptu treat for the children, when the staff offered to allow them up to the projector room to see the huge projector and equipment that makes it all possible. Some of the children eagerly took up the offer and loved the chance to go behind the scenes as they wouldn’t normally be able to. One child came down filled with excitement at being able to press the button to make the curtains open and close! It is sometimes the smallest things that make the biggest difference to our little people.

Laughter

The film was a huge success with the sound of giggles often floating through the auditorium. Our families treasured the chance to spend time together as a family – and with the cost of living so high, just being able to get out of the house together is a massive bonus.
