It is not just the trustees.
Behind us, and without whom we could not do what we do, is a great bunch of family and friends. They span from young to the more mature but they all love doing what we do and believe in the end result, making the quality of life a bit better for the children and their families we help.
The Office Team
The four founders of the charity, Chris & Ursula Downton and James & Kirsty Denny are supported by an amazing TEAM who make CWCF what it is today!
Shirley is our office Admin Assisstant and usually the first jolly voice you will hear when you ring the office. Shirley’s role involves all things admin, including liasing with our families, organising family events, coordinating our office volunteers and much, much more!
Zoe is our Charity Fundraiser, she organises our fundraisers, coordinates our volunteers and liases with the amazing supporters who fundraise for us. If you need a sponsor form or organising your own fundraiser for CWCF, Zoe is the lady you need.
Paula is our community fundraiser which means she goes into the community doing things such as handing out penny pots, fundraising with schools, getting involved with local groups and raising funds. Paula has been a CWCF family for the past 5 years, with her son receiving a bone marrow transplant in 2015. She has helped with many of our events over the years.
Chloe is the grants officer for CWCF, her role involves searching for funding opportunities and writing our grant applications. This helps to raise funds to continue supporting local families affected by childhood cancer and keep the charity running.
Issy is the media assistant and runs the social media sites including the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages, keeps the website updated, and is in charge of the monthly E-newsletter.
Lucy is our financial admin warrior, ensuring the data entered is accurate.
Emma is our lovely Events Coordinator, helping to organise and host exciting events for the families we support.
Mick is one of our amazing volunteers, he arranges the holidays for the families we support as well as the logistics for everyone such as posters, spreadsheets and organising the ‘Run to Run’. He’s a man of many talents.
Pauline is another of our amazing volunteers, organising trips for the families we support to watch Brighton and Hove Albion play at the AMEX and the tennis in Eastbourne, as well as researching new sports for our families to watch. Pauline really is fantastic at what she does!
Elaine is also one of our wonderful volunteers, helping us to form the content for our newsletter as well as helping us with administration jobs such as making posters and laminating in the office. Elaine is always after lots of new stories for the newsletter, anything from fundraising to family events and wishes we have granted!
Jim is another of our fantastic volunteers, he counts all of the penny pots, cash and cheques that come in, writing the receipts and filing them away, he is a wonderful help around the office!
Keith has also joined the team as another fantastic volunteer. Keith helps us with all things accounts, his knowledge is a great asset to the charity.
Diane is another of our wonderful volunteers who helps us with our admin, we are very lucky to have so much amazing help!
Ron is our fantastic volunteer in charge of penny pots, kindly collecting full pots, returning them to the office for counting and giving out new or replacement penny pots.
We are also very lucky to have Caroline on board! Caroline helps Shirley by writing thank you notes to our wonderful supporters.
Janice & Jackie
Janice and Jackie are wonderful for our fundraising team – they wrap all our teddies in cellophane ready for us to run our teddy tombolas to help raise funds for our charity.
John is our wonderful volunteer in charge of banking for the charity- a very important job!
Karen & Richard Parkhurst
Karen and Richard are friends and volunteers of CWCF.

Our extended team
Of course, the CWCF team is more than the trustees and staff. It’s our extended family of volunteers and friends who help out at every occasion.
We are always very grateful to those to donate their time to our cause.
